1a- The visa section of the French Consulate in Houston.

You may apply for a visa at the Consulate General of France in Houston if you are resident in the following states :

The visa section is located at 777 Post Oak Boulevard, Suite 600, Houston, TX 77056. The visitor parking is at the corner of the building on Hollyhurst lane.

2. Personal appearance

For security reasons, all applicants, except children under the age of 6, have to appear personally at the Consulate General of France in Houston.

To apply for a visa, you have to come with all the necessary documents in original; bring copies of the original documents if you want to keep the originals: the visa section does not make photocopies.

Bring a stamped envelop with a tracking number in case we need to send you back your passport.

3. How to make an appointment

The visa section is open to the public on an appointment basis, with no walk-ins allowed.

4. How to cancel your appointment?

5. The different kinds of visas.

•  The short stay visa  allows you to go to France and the others Schengen states for tourism, business or family visits, for  up to a maximum of 90 days.
  
• The long stay visa allows you to stay in France for more than 3 months
  a. as a student ,
  b. as a professional,
  c. as a visitor 
  d. as a spouse or children of a French national or European Union citizen.
  
•  The airport transit visa  allows you to transit through the international zone of a French airport without entering the Schengen space and France.
  
•  The circulation visa  is a short stay visa valid from one to five years. It enables the visa holder to remain in France and in the Schengen area for 90 days during a 6-month period. It mainly applies to business people .
  
• Visa for Overseas French territories and Monaco

REMARKS: The Consular Administration has full authority to appreciate and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant.

Note that the visa does not in itself grant you the right to enter a French territory. It is necessary that you carry the original documents used to obtain the visa with you at all times. Border authorities may request that you show them upon entry to France.

7. Schengen Visa Offices in Houston

The Consulates of Germany, Italy, Greece and Spain are the only representants of the Schengen states delivering visas in Houston, apart from the Consulate of France.
